The problem
Looking after the school garden with our raised beds takes up a lot of time. It is not easy to get all the work done during regular lessons.
The solution we used
This school year, the non-binding Nature and Garden exercise was introduced in order to be able to work intensively in the school garden with particularly interested pupils. The children should also learn about and utilise regional wild plants.
Implementation
Work on, plant and maintain the raised beds
Making and distributing bird feeders
Making and planting seed bombs
Getting to know rose hips and tasting them as squash
Making and tasting nettle crisps
Recognising wild garlic and processing it into crisps, pesto and salt
Recognising dandelions and processing them into dandelion blossom cake
Planting and tasting cress
Planting early-flowering bulbs and observing their development
Growing various herbs (use still planned)
