The problem
Intergenerational exchange can enrich old and young. We often don't know what older generations have learnt about plants and nature, for example.
The solution we used
Garden café and garden chat: As part of a project day, the residents of the Caritas assisted living centre in Randegg were invited to visit our garden.
Implementation
We got to know each other over coffee and cake. Then we went for a walk around our garden and at the end we played well-known games such as "Schnapsen" (card game) and "Mensch ärgere dich nicht" (Ludo). All participants enjoyed this nice get-together. All classes at the primary and secondary school spend time in the field, where many different types of vegetables are grown, plants sponsored by parents and home-grown plants are planted and watered, and weeds are removed from the young plants.
